What is a dermal filler?
Dermal fillers replace volume that has been lost due to the natural aging process. This is done by injecting filler material usually composed of hyaluronic acids, collagens, or biosynthetic polymers.
The biosynthetic polymer class includes poly-L-lactic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, and polymethylmethacrylate.
Types of Botox and Dermal Fillers ClaimsThere are risks associated with this type of treatment; poor care before and after treatment, or poor technique, can lead to a claim in negligence and cosmetic filler claims:
- Infection leading to inflamed lumps and abscesses.
- Severe nerve damage.
- Excessive muscle weakness.
- A semi-permanent filler migrating to an area which was not treated.
