What else can I claim?

When it comes to motor insurance, many people still believe that a comprehensive policy will cover all the costs incurred if they are involved in an accident. Realistically, this cannot be the case, but an innocent motorist can be protected from having to pay their policy excess or replacement car hire charges as well as receiving legal assistance to claim for compensation if an injury is sustained.

The Specter Partnership specialise in recovering losses not normally covered by insurance policies, where the loss is someone else’s fault. These losses, together with our costs in dealing with the matter, are recoverable from the insurers of the responsible party.

We will pursue any other losses which are resultant from the non-fault motor accident. Below is a brief list of some examples:

We will help you claim back your medication costs.

Following a motor accident you may have been prescribed medication following the accident by a doctor, or you may have bought medication over a shop counter. If you keep hold of your medication receipts we will pursue a claim for medication and/or prescriptions costs on your behalf from the insurers of the responsible party.

We will help you claim back your treatment costs.

Following your medical examination with one of our leading medical experts, you may be recommended to undergo further medical treatment, ranging from a short course of physiotherapy through to rehabilitation and employment retraining to help rebuild your life following the motor accident. We can arrange this treatment for you on a private basis and pursue a claim for treatment costs on your behalf from the insurers of the responsible party.

We will help you arrange your vehicle repairs.

If you do not wish to utilise your comprehensive insurance policy, or are covered for third party fire and theft only, we can arrange for your vehicle to be repaired at your chosen garage or a garage from our approved network, in which case we will arrange for your vehicle to be repaired by a manufacturer approved repairer to preserve your warranty.

We will arrange a replacement hire vehicle at no cost to you.

If you do not have access to a replacement vehicle whilst your own is being repaired, whether a second vehicle in the household or a courtesy car from the garage, then we can arrange a like-for-like replacement vehicle for you on your behalf. We will pursue the claim for hire charges on your behalf from the insurers of the responsible party.

We will help you pursue a claim back diminution; a loss in value of your motor vehicle.

As a result of a motor accident you may not be able to sell your motor vehicle for the same price as you would have if it had not been damaged, particularly if it is a new or prestige vehicle. The fact is that, if a prospective buyer of a vehicle is asked whether they would prefer to buy one that had not been involved in an accident they would always say yes and as a result dealers will always give less in part exchange for a vehicle which has been damaged in a vehicle notwithstanding it has been adequately repaired.

If you have an accident in a performance or cherished vehicle, the reduction in value of that vehicle varies between 4% and 14% of its pre-accident value, notwithstanding it is repaired by a manufacturer approved repairer.

The Specter Partnership Solicitors are recognised as a leading law firm in the country in connection with claims for diminution, using specialist engineers within the industry who can accurately assess the value of your claim to ensure maximum compensation.

We will help you claim back any travelling expenses.

If you have no other form of transport available to you, you can keep your losses down to a minimum by using public transport, i.e. taxi’s, buses or trains as your alternative transport. If you keep hold of your travelling receipts then we will calculate and pursue a claim for travelling expenses on your behalf from the insurers of the responsible party.
